Her first young adult novel, The Eyes of a King, was published in 2008, followed by Voices in the Dark (2009) and The Heart at War (2015), a loosely-connected trilogy following the interweaving stories of a family over several generations in a country troubled by war. Her young adult writing is published by Penguin Random House in English and has been translated into Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, German, Dutch, Polish, Estonian, Russian, Turkish, Greek, Spanish, Thai and Simplified Chinese. In 2006, her portrait was included in the Exceptional Youth exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, and she was a 2008 Amazon Rising Star. Catherine studied English at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, and has worked as a teacher in schools in Cambridgeshire, Essex and Stockton-on-Tees. In 2012 she moved to County Durham in the North East of England, where she lives with her fiancé. Her debut adult novel, a work of literary historical fiction following one family across 95 years of European history, is The House at the Edge of Night.)
