found: African American National Biography, accessed November 12, 2014, via Oxford African American Studies Center database:(Anderson, Osborne Perry; abolitionist; born 1830 in West Fallowfield, Pennsylvania, United States; was among the forty thousand African Americans who fled to Canada; settled in the community of Chatham, province of Ontario; served as one of two recording secretaries on direct action convention in Chatham (1858); left Canada to assist Brown in his planned attack on Harpers Ferry (1859); became a fugitive from federal justice and a hero to radical abolitionists; addressed a thousand people at a memorial service for the Harpers Ferry martyrs at Brown's farm in North Elba, New York; devoted the rest of the year to writing Anderson Voice from Harpers Ferry (1860); recruited black Canadians to fight for the Union cause, and fought in the Union army himself (1861); after the war he moved to Washington, D.C.; died 1871 in Washington, District of Columbia, United States)
