found: Email from Law Center Archivist, Georgetown Law Library, Jan. 29, 2021:(Georgetown Law was founded in 1870. In the earliest Law School bulletins, the school's name was "Law Department" or "Department of Law"; though "School of Law" was used as well. The earliest bulletin that I can access online is from 1877-1878. It uses both "Department of Law" and "School of Law." By the time of the 1883-1884 bulletin, "Law School" or "School of Law" were the preferred terms. The 1953-1954 bulletin is the last to refer to the school as "School of Law." Beginning with the 1954-1955 bulletin, our name changed to the current designation, Georgetown University Law Center. In current usage by our Communications Office, the official full name is Georgetown University Law Center. In promotional materials, the name is sometimes shortened to Georgetown Law.)
