- [The Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art was established in 1876. In 1929 the name was changed to Pennsylvania Museum of Art, and the School of Industrial Art became a part of the museum. The name of the museum was changed in 1938 to Philadelphia Museum of Art. The name of the school was changed in 1948 to Philadelphia Museum School of Art; and in 1959 to Philadelphia Museum College of Art. In 1964 the school became independent and was renamed the Philadelphia College of Art.]
