found: Boston herald viewed through Newsbank, July 18, 2012:obituary dated Thursday, January 23, 1992 (Henry Stommel of Falmouth, a world-famous oceanographer, died Jan 16. following surgery at New England Deaconess Hospital. He was 71. Born in Wilmington, Del., he received a bachelor's degree in astronomy at Yale University in 1942. He taught at Yale for two years before becoming a research associate at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. In 1960, he joined Harvard University as a professor of oceanography, and in 1963 he joined the faculty of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He returned to Woods Hole in 1978 and stayed on as a senior scientist)
