The fledgling province, 1976, p. 3-4, p. 13-14 (The Trustees for establishing the colonly of Georgia in America, which effectively ruled the colonly from 1732-1752, and James Oglethorpe, the de facto governor of the province until 1750, directed all affairs in the colony until 1752, when they turned it back to the King. These proprietors ruled through petty officials and made regulations, rather than laws. The General Assembly referred to in early documents brought the colonists together to advise on local needs and concerns, but it could not enact laws.)
