found: Brill's New Pauly viewed via the WWW, July 18, 2011 (About the life of the author we know as good as nothing. Among the various names data in the manuscripts, M. Manilius is the most probable. His creative period falls at the end of Augustus's reign and at the beginning of Tiberius's. The terminus post quem is the battle of the Teutoburg Forest in AD 9 (Manil. 1,899f.). Augustus is at first the living addressee (1,384f.; 2,507-509), but is then replaced by Tiberius (4,764-766).
