[Until 1946, the present State Library was known variously as the Missouri Library Commission and the Missouri State Travelling Library.] [In 1946 the Missouri State Library was established, assuming the functions of the Missouri Library Commission.] [Located in Jefferson City, it falls administratively within the Division of Higher Education in the State Dept. of Education.] [What was until 1946 referred to as the Missouri State Library is now known as the Supreme Court Library.] [This is a separate institution, also located in Jefferson City]
