found: Bail, E. From railway to freeway: Pacific Electric and the motor coach, 1984: p. 33, etc. (Motor Transit Co. fd in 1916 as White Bus Line. During the 1920s, the company was identified variously on buses, depots, brochures, etc. as Motor Transit Co., Motor Transit Stages or Motor Transit. In 1930, Pacific Electric Railway bought 2/3 of Motor Transit stock. The companies were maintained separately for a few more years, but the name on Motor Transport's shield logo changed from Motor Transit Stages to Motor Transit Lines, while the company was variously identified elsewhere (on buses, brochures and depots) by the names Motor Transit Co., Motor Transit Lines, or Pacific Electric. In 1936, Pacific Electric Railway became the sole owner of the company. The name Motor Transit Co. was dropped in favor of Motor Transit Lines, which was used interchangeably with the name Pacific Electric on its bus line over the next few decades)
