The Univ. was not successfully operated until 1883. By act of the Legislature in 1912, it was moved to Baton Rouge. Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College was reorg. on Mar. 9, 1914 under Act 118 of the General Assembly. It is now located at Scotlandville, five miles north of Baton Rouge; it is a state university)
