- [Created by Dr. Serge Koussevitzky in May 1942 in memory of his wife, Natalie Koussevitzky. Its broad purpose is the encouragement of the growth of musical culture, and in the fulfillment of that purpose it regularly commissions new works and aids in the development of musical talent through widely varied activities. In Jan. 1950, the Koussevitzky Music Foundation, Inc. established a permanent endowment in L.C. with the more specific purpose of assisting in the development of creative musical talent.
