While at Smith, Charlotte met Portia Mansfield. In 1915, the two women founded the Perry-Mansfield School of Theater and Dance in Strawberry Park, Steamboat Springs. Charlotte joined the Hunter College theater department in New York in 1947. In 1954, she received her master's degree in theater from New York University. Charlotte passed away in 1983.)
