Many publications issued in the 1980s and '90s used "Smithsonian Archives." The official name again became "Smithsonian Institution Archives" in 1998. The phrase, "Archives and Special Collections of the Smithsonian Institution," transcribed as an imprint statement on many bibliographic records, was intended to be a series)
