(Crouch, Andrae Edward; stage, screen actor, composer, arranger, jazz singer, jazz musician. He was born 01 July 1942 in Los Angeles, California, United States; achieved success with gospel music group Andrae Crouch and the Disciples recording best-selling albums such as Take Me Back, This Is Another Day, Soulfully, Keep On Singing, and Live in London (1960's); collaborated with Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and with Quincy Jones on the movie soundtrack for The Color Purple (1981); received great acclaim for solo album Mercy (1994); launched record company, Slave Records (1990's). He recieved an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music (1997); honors include Academy Award, two Grammy awards (1994), star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (2004))
