He attended Lewiston High School, Bates College, and Yale University (1883). He was admitted to the Maine Bar in 1885 after attending what is now George Washington University Law School. Edward Nelson Dingley married Miriam Gardner Robinson in 1888. At the time of his death he was the "Majority Expert" in tariff, economics and finance with the Senate Finance Committee. He is buried in Auburn, Me.)
