  • [Adam Moleyns (died 1450) was a prominent English diplomat, politician, humanist, and bishop. After attending Oxford, he traveled to Rome as a representative of the government of Henry VI at the papal curia in Rome in 1443, and by 1435 he was a member of the papal household. He served diplomatic missions for Henry VI between England, the Council of Basel, and Rome, and he led an English embassy to Frankfurt in 1442. He was diplomatically active in France in the 1440s, and was closely politically associated with William de la Pole, the duke of Suffolk. In 1444, Moleyns was made Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal, and in 1446, he was consecrated as Bishop of Chichester. He was killed on January 9, 1450 by discontented soldiers while delivering wages to troops bound for France.]
