  • [Victoria Street Society for the Protection of Animals from Vivisection was founded in 1875 as the Society for Protection of Animals Liable to Vivisection, also known as Victoria Street Society. In 1878 the name was changed to Victoria Street Society for the Protection of Animals from Vivisection. In 1883 the Society merged with the International Association for the Total Suppression of Vivisection to form the Victoria Street Society for the Protection of Animals from Vivisection, United with the International Association for the Total Suppression of Vivisection (called also Victoria Street and International Anti-Vivisection Society). In Oct. 1897 the name was changed to National Anti-Vivisection Society.]
