A series of disasters (earthquates and landslides) damaged the building. It was rebuilt completely by Leo IV (847-855). Rebuilt again in the 12th century and renamed Santa Maria Liberatrice. In 1702 a restoration brought to light the remains of the original church, and in 1901-2 Santa Maria Liberatrice, by the time entirely modernized, was pulled down)
