Attended the University of Kansas, served in the U.S. Army during World War I. Earned an LL.B. from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1921 and began practicing law in Fairway, Kansas. A Republican, he was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 1938 where he served for four consecutive terms. Successfully ran for lieutenant governor of Kansas in 1946 and 1948, then briefly became governor when incumbent Frank Carlson resigned in November 1950. Returned to his law practice in early 1951. Died in Fairway, Kansas on June 23, 1966.)
