        • found: French painting in the time of Jean de Berry : the Limbourgs and their contemporaries, 1974:v. 1, p. 373 (Master of Berry's Cleres Femmes; Cleres Femmes Master; active during at least the first decade of the 15th century, apparently in Paris; named after a manuscript of Boccaccio's Cleres et noble femmes received by Jean de Berry in Feb. 1404 (Paris, Bibliothèque nationale, fr. 598); his hand cannot be recognized with any assurance in the years towards 1410, although versions of his style may be found until 1415 or even later; although called the Master of 1402 by Martens (in Meister Francke), the work described in Martens as by the Master of 1402 is by two quite different masters, the Master of Berry's Cleres Femmes and the Coronation Master)
