found: Zeder, M. New perspectives on agricultural origins in the ancient Near East, Web site, Aug. 21, 1998(Umm Qseir is located about 19 m. away from nearest contemporary site and is very small: no more than a quarter of an acre in size. Excavators from Yale University found only ephemeral traces of architecture and essentially no tools used in grain harvesting and processing. The entire Halafian occupation of Umm Qseir seems to have lasted no more than 200 years between 6,000 and 5,000 B.C. and the site was probably occupied by no more than two to three families.)
