Summary
Shows the caterpillar of the Ailanthus silk moth weaving a cocoon, and, at the end of three weeks, dissolving the end of the cocoon and emerging as a moth. Explains that silk cocoons must be harvested before the end of the pupa state in order to be used for making cloth, and demonstrates how the cocoons are unwound into silk thread. Shows the Red Admiral, a British butterfly, in the caterpillar stage building a leaf tent cocoon.
