Summary
Brothers John and Fred Robertson are fishermen and both are in love with Jennie Blair. John, who is bolder than his brother, wins her over and they marry. Fred continues to love her in silence. Hard times hit them and John decides to find his fortune elsewhere and departs leaving behind a note. Fred tries his best to keep her in food and water, but he never speaks of his love. After seven years, John has still not returned and Fred finally declares his love. They have a child and then John, now bearded, returns. He sees the family situation through the window of their house. He enters and pretends he is a friednd of John, who asked him to deliver his money to his wife. He disappears into the night
