Summary
Italian political cartoon shows the interior of a restaurant where the chef (Otto von Bismarck) has returned to the kitchen to prepare new dishes behind a green curtain labeled "Il cuoco si è ritirato a preparare nuove piatanze"; meanwhile, on the left, two men representing Russia and Turkey have gotten into a wrestling match knocking over a bottle of wine and a chair labeled "Protocollo" breaking its legs; toward the center is a man labeled "Inglese" wearing a checked suit and a red sailor cap, he is holding a large cake labeled "Costantinopoli" and is attempting to eat the decorations off the top; two diminutive figures stand at center, one labeled "Milan" gestures with his finger to his lips for silence, he is holding a blue cap with a sprig of greenery at top, behind him the other figure, labeled "Nikita" is holding a pair of boots labeled "Croatia", they are looking to their left at a struggle taking place on the far right where a man labeled "Austria" has been knocked to the floor and is being held down with his head in the grip of a man representing Germany (possibly William I); the Austrian man is tugging on a pair of trousers, which another man (possibly Victor Emmanuel II) is trying to take away from him. In the background, on the right, a person is standing near the top of a stairway, holding up a coat labeled "Regno Ungarido".
