Summary
Field recordings of Dakota, Lakota, Omaha, and Cheyenne songs, dance songs, stories, prayers, and recordings of children reading samples from primary readers recorded by Evelyn Robe Finkbeiner from July 22 - August 29, 1947. Included are Sun Dance songs, victory songs, and songs in honor of Dakota World War II veterans, some with translations into English by John Colhoff. Includes a radio broadcast of the show "Indian Rhythms" with Evelyn Yellow Robe as guest, March 31, 1948. Included are photocopies of notes about the songs and singers, with partial translations into English. The collection also includes correspondence from the collector, Evelyn Robe Finkbeiner (1946-1978) about the recordings, and a letter from the donor, Rosebud Yellow Robe (August 1976).
