Summary
Salim (Nuruddin Salim Jahangir) the son of Emperor Akbar, the ruler of India, falls in love with Anarkali, a courtesan. The Emperor reminds him that his wife must be of royal blood and decides to separate them. When Akbar's pressure gets too much for Anarkali, Salim declares war on his father but he loses the battle. Akbar sentences Salim to death but in keeping with the ways of true lovers, Anarkali decides to renounce her life to save her beloved. She is buried alive.
