Summary
This television series is upon a romance between two historical figures in Pakistan during the Moghul period. This is the epic story of Anarkali, a courtesan in the Moghul Emperor Akbar's court, and her love for his son, the Prince Nuruddin Salim, who later becomes the Moghul Emperor Jahangir. When Akbar learns that his son is seriously in love with Anarkali, he does everything to thwart their romance by insisting that a commoner could never be an empress. Salim however is adamant and rebelliously leads an army against his father. He is defeated in battle and brought before Akbar who sentences him to death. Anarkali agrees to sacrifice her life for Salim. The father is prevailed upon to change his mind and agrees to allow them to live. But, after the couple spend their first night together, Anarkali is taken in secret to be buried alive in the castle's brick wall
