Summary
One hundred-sixty songs about the Vietnam War, sung by American military personnel. Recorded primarily in Thailand, Vietnam, and Virginia by General Edward G. Lansdale, 1962-1972. Includes the "Cosmos Club Bar Choir" recorded at the Virginia homes of Joe Baker and General Lansdale. Also included are some commercial recordings and recordings from tapes and discs sent to Lansdale by friends and colleagues. The tapes are edited and narrated by Henry L. "Hank" Miller. The collection includes one-half linear inch of articles, including Landsdale's typescript, "Songs by Americans in the Vietnam War," Spring 1976; recording logs, notes, transcriptions, a portrait photograph of General E. G. Lansdale smoking a cigarette, and correspondence of Lansdale with staff of the Library of Congress about the donation dated 1976-1978.
