The Music series includes holograph and copyist manuscript scores, sketches, publisher proofs, sheet music, instrumental parts, and lyric sheets related to Schwartz's stage productions and his other song-writing projects. Only a handful of titles have instrumental part sets, the most notable being "Dancing in the Dark," which is one of the few titles in the collection to boast a complete set of scores and instrumental parts. Additional lyric sheets and materials for titles not represented in the Music series are located within the Project Files series, which also contains scripts, clippings, publicity materials, correspondence, financial and legal documents, photographs, and other materials associated with Schwartz's stage, television, radio, and film productions. This series also includes files for events, unproduced collaborations, and miscellaneous scripts and lyric sheets. Of particular interest are scripts by George S. Kaufman, and Dorothy and Herbert Fields, as well as hundreds of lyric sheets by Howard Dietz. The Correspondence series contains letters, telegrams, greeting cards, and other communications from collaborators, notable personalities, and organizations, including ASCAP, Irving Berlin, Chappell & Co., Howard Dietz, Oscar Hammerstein II, Joshua Logan, and Richard Rodgers. The Photographs series includes studio portraits, family photographs, and other assorted images of Schwartz in rehearsal or with his collaborators, including Howard Dietz and Beatrice Lillie. The Biographical Materials series contains awards, published and unpublished writings, notebooks, business papers, lists of songs, financial and legal documents, and publicity materials.
