Summary
Editorial cartoon showing a member of the Committee on Un-American Activities and Robert H.W. Welch, Jr., the founder and head of the John Birch Society, whispering to each other. Says Welch, "They're all communists except thee and me." In early April 1961, Congress was urged to investigate the John Birch Society, a conservative advocacy group supporting anti-communism and described as a radical right-wing organization, because of its derogatory remarks regarding President John F. Kennedy as well as past Presidents.
