Summary
Studio portraits by Frederick De Bourg Richards of prominent politicians, including Millard Fillmore, Henry Clay, Richard Vaux, and Daniel Webster, artists, including Alfred Jones, Paul Weber, Edmund Lewis, Thomas Crawford, and Harriet Hosmer, and actors and singers, including Edwin Forrest, Charlotte Cushman, British actress Jean Margaret Davenport, Lola Montez, and Jenny Lind, also Mrs. Edwin Booth. Includes two self-portraits of De Bourg Richards, as well as a view of the tomb of Aaron Burr. Among the buildings photographed are Nassau Hall, Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, the Gloria Dei Church (Old Swedes'), the Old Lutheran Church (St. Michael's) on 5th Street, and the Associate Presbyterian Church, also, the Lydia Darragh House, Philadelphia Fire Company with steam fire engine in front, the Jefferson Medical College, Academy of Natural Sciences, the Arcade Hotel, and the ruins of the former Chinese Museum, and street views, generally from elevated vantage points, mostly on or around Chestnut Street in Philadelphia
