Summary
Cartoon shows Senator Everett Dirksen staring at a bottle of thalidomide tablets as he tears up a document, "Opposition to new drug control laws." The Food & Drug Administration recommended passage of strict regulations over investigational drugs when it realized that thalidomide had been distributed to American doctors. The legislation passed Congress in October 1962.
