Correspondence, interviews, writings, biographical materials, clippings, scrapbooks, memorabilia, photographs, and other paper and digital files relating primarily to Bouton's writings, especially his book Ball Four, and to his career as a pitcher in Major League Baseball primarily with the New York Yankees from 1962 to 1968, as well as with the Atlanta Braves and various minor, semi-professional, and amateur league teams. Documents Bouton's work in radio and television, especially with New York City television stations WABC-TV and WCBS-TV and the 1976 television series Ball Four, as well as other aired and unaired shows including appearances on talk shows and as a Major League radio commentator; writings including articles, editorials on sports and political topics, as well as his books titled I'm Glad You Didn't Take It Personally (1971); Strike Zone (1994), a novel coauthored with Eliot Asinof, and Foul Ball (2003) documenting Bouton's efforts to save Wahconah Park, a classic baseball field in Pittsfield, Massachusetts; collaboration with his editor Leonard Shecter; his websites, especially www.jimbouton.com; and various business ventures associated with Jim Bouton Corporation, Jim Bouton Enterprises, and the Big League brand name including Big League Cards and Big League Chew, and the Vintage Base Ball Federation established by Bouton in 2006. Also includes papers documenting his involvement in politics and social activism including activities with the American Committee on Africa and his service with the U.S. Army Reserve.
