Summary
A musical biopic of Gay Nineties-era songwriter Paul Dresser (played by Victor Mature), based on a biographical essay by his brother, the novelist Theodore Dreiser. Rita Hayworth plays the eponymous Sal, a stage star who helps Dresser to become the toast of Tin Pan Alley.
