Correspondence, notes, writings, engagement books, clippings, printed matter, scrapbooks, photographs, and other papers documenting Mortimer's education, professional and social activities, and international travel with her father, W. Averell Harriman. Features letters from Mortimer to her sister, Mary Averell Harriman Fisk, and former governess, Elsie "Mouche" Marshall, relating to Mortimer's work in London as a reporter for the International News Service and columnist for Newsweek magazine during Harriman's tenure as a special envoy for U.S. lend-lease operations (1941-1943); work in Moscow for the U.S. Office of War Information and as the U.S. Embassy's hostess for social functions during Harriman's assignment as U.S. ambassador to the Soviet Union (1943-1946); trip to the site of the Katyn Massacre, Katyn', Russia, 1940; attendance at the Yalta Conference, I︠A︡lta, Ukraine (1945); and requests for clothing and other personal items from home. Includes copies of notes on the Yalta Conference by Anna Roosevelt; clippings of articles by and about Mortimer; and class papers by Mortimer while studying at Bennington College, Bennington, Vermont. Also includes material pertaining to her international travel with Harriman, including a trip to Pakistan in 1967 to view the dedication ceremony for the Mangla Dam during his time as U.S. ambassador-at-large and to the Soviet Union in 1974 where he met with Soviet leader Leonid Il'ich Brezhnev.
