Summary
"This book reviews the work done on multiphase flow through pipes during the last five decades and focuses on project applications akin to flow assurance of hydrocarbon production. The fundamentals and challenges of multiphase flow thermal-hydraulic simulations are covered in depth jointly with the prediction of hydrocarbon properties. Historic multiphase flow models are reviewed, and the newer two-fluid model is developed for practical applications. Examples of the steady-state models presented include well flow, gathering systems, pipe fittings and restrictions. Practical examples of transient multiphase flow in wells and pipelines highlight the operational challenges of hydrocarbon production and complement the normal steady-state performance. The book also includes brief sections on important topics such as multiphase flow metering and sand fines transport. In summary, this book aims to put together the tools for pragmatic simulation of multiphase transport in the oil and gas industry."-- Provided by publisher.
