Summary
Social psychologist Philip Zimbardo talks about the behaviorial changes that occur in both prison guards and prisoners and likens these characteristics to what goes on in the minds of shy individuals. He comments on the universality of shyness across cultures, its very high incidence, and distinguishes between dispositional shyness and situational shyness. He also discusses the correlation between shyness and various social and interpersonal problems.
