Includes Preble's journals (1803-1804) as commander of the U.S. Navy Mediterranean Squadron, flagship the USF Constitution, during the Tripolitan war; Isaac Chauncey's journal (1804 June 25- August 6) on the ship John Adams; logbooks and other records of the brig Argus, frigate Constitution, frigate Essex, ship John Adams, sloop Ranger, brig Pickering, and smack Traveller; and letter from officers of the frigate Philadelphia regarding its loss at Tripoli (1804)
