Summary
Consists of selections from the Archief van Eeghen, Amsterdam, Netherlands, relating to commercial possibilities in America following the American Revolution, 1792-1797; a 17th century memoir of Terra Neua [sic]; material on the financial situation of the states of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, 1790; and letters to E.J. Potgieter and his poems relating to Abraham Lincoln, 1860-1866. Includes the journals of Samuel Fuller on voyages from the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa, to Port Jackson, N.S.W., and from there to Amboyna (Ambon, Indonesia); and from Boston, Mass., to India and from there to the Cape of Good Hope, 1799-1801.
Selections from the Schenking-Diederichs Collection consist of a series of American correspondence, 1711-1864, of John Quincy Adams, A.D. Bache, Elias Boudinot, James Buchanan, Benjamin F. Butler, Martin Van Buren, Caleb Cushing, Edward Everett, and Daniel Webster; as well as a number of French letters including those of Edmond Charles Genet and Joseph Bonaparte, King of Spain.
