Even in the midst of the important Roosevelt-Churchill conference at Casablanca, the mythical "Short Snorter" club had its moment. Those who fly the ocean are eligible to become "Short Snorters." As evidence of membership they carry a dollar bill signed by one or more other "Short Snorters." Here Lieutenant Colonel Elliott Roosevelt, Army Air Corps Reserve, the President's son, just asked Major General George S. Patton Jr. (right), Commander of the U.S. forces in French Morocco, if he is a "Short Snorter." Patton having answered in the affirmative, is groping in his wallet to produce his signed dollar bill. The custom is that if he fails to produce it after saying he is a "Short Snorter" he must give all those present a one dollar bill 1943 Jan
