1. Harris & Ewing Easter bunnies' laurels threatened. Government experts enable hens to color own eggs. Washington, D.C., April 7. An interesting experiment is in progress at the National Agricultural Center, Beltsville, Maryland, whereby hens color their own eggs over a range of hues from a pearly white through brown to sky-blue. This picture of Charles A. Denton, Junior Chemist, at the nutrition laboratory, shows the method of measuring the yolk index. Eventually we may anticipate a uniformity of eggs in shape and in yolk color as well as a definite amount of proteins contained in each one. 4.7.39 1939 April 7

11. Styles in Serbia. In looking over the styles in southern Serbia 'spots' are the thing that most strike the eye of the traveller. The cotton print industry of the quaint old Turkish town of Ferizovich caters to the feminine love for dizzy color effects and costumes like these are frequently seen. They are not made after a Yama-Yama design but the baggy trousers date from the rule of Moslem in this part of old Macedonia, now in Yugo-Slavia. It is to the hopelessly wretched war orphans of this section of Europe that the Jun or Red Cross of America hopes to bring permanent betterment. Plans of this American school children's organization to inaugurate industrial training school centers in various parts of Serbia will mean that modern vocational training will make its first appearance there 22 July 1920 [date received]
