15. When the Sea gives up its dead. The superstitious natives on this Island of Corfu will tell the travelers that several thousand bodies of children and Serb soldiers will float into this little harbor. From here the "Death Ship of Corfu" set out each day with a cargo of dead to e buried ten miles at Sea as they could not dig graves fast enough. That was in 1915-16 when the Serbian Army with several thousand youthful, patriotic followers came here for reorganization and were overtaken by a typhus plague. It was here that the American Red Cross sent a corps of doctors and Nurses who helped to check the epidemic and save Army from complete annihilation 7 January 1920 [date received]
