The only visible change in this plane over the earlier production type is the addition of a belly tank to augment the normal fuel supply. This Army fighter which carries the heaviest cannon of any single-seater fighter in the world, is powered by an Allison V-type liquid-cooled engine submerged behind the pilot's compartment, as the exhaust stacks indicate.
