1. 2000 Stearman Trainers for National Defense! This photograph shows Lieutenant Colonel Ray G. Harris, Air Corps representative at Boeing's Stearman aircraft division plant in Wichita, Kansas, accepting delivery of Stearman trainer No. 2000, on August 27. In delivering the trainer considerably ahead of time, Stearman is believed to be the first manufacturer to complete this number of airplanes for the Army and Navy under the national defense program. Production of additional trainers continues at Wichita, while the Stearman division completes an addition to its new plant two there, to further contribute to the Seattle production of the new Boeing Flying Fortresses 1942 Aug. 27?
