9. General Motors program to keep 'em rolling. Three members of new instructor training school for Army officers and non-coms at the GM Institute learn how to check the alignment of diesel tanks' engine connecting rods and pistons. The Institute school, operated in cooperation with the Detroit Diesel Engine Division of the corporation, will graduate twenty-five instructors a month for the Amored Force Training Center at Fort Knox. It is one of the first units to start functioning under a five million dollar instructor training program being launched by GM as part of a three-point program to help keep the planes, tanks, and guns of the united nations at highest possible fighting efficiency [between 1940 and 1946]

11. United States. Office of War Information. Conservation. Truck abuse. Overheating caused this waste! This piston is scored beyond repair. The damage was caused by running an overheated engine. If the radiator had been flushed at reasonable periods, it would not have happened. The driver could have prevented this extreme damage had he shut off the engine when it began to overheat 1942 June
