found: NUCMC data from Montana Historical Society for Spencer family papers, 1860-1979(Dwight Spencer; b. in Mansfield, Conn., in 1827; ordained as a Baptist minister in 1863; during the Civil War was a delegate for the U.S. Christian Commission; in 1880 became superintendent of missions for the Rocky Mountain District of the American Baptist Home Mission Society; his territory included Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming; after his tenure in the West, Spencer became secretary for the Wabash and New York districts of the Baptist Home Missionary Society; after his retirement from those positions in 1901, he served as local minister in several towns in New England; d. 1910)
