Feb. 28, 1928, in Sheridan, Wyo., a son of Tom and Jewel Carroll Reed; he grew up in Dayton, and was a 1945 graduate of Polson High School; he then joined the U.S. Navy right after graduation near the end of World War II; after the war, he attended Indiana Tech in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and later began working as an electronic engineer for the former Philco and then Ford Aeropsace in Palo Alto, Calif.; he married Peggy Reynolds on Dec. 28, 1950, in Polson and moved around the country with his career; he retired in 1984, and moved to Swan Valley, Mont.)
