Edgartown Yacht Club (Edgartown, Mass.)

found: NUCMC data from Martha's Vineyard Museum for Edgartown Yacht Club annuals and ephemera, 1929-2000, undated(Edgartown Yacht Club of Edgartown, Massachusetts was incorporated on March 6, 1905. The organization was formed by members of the Home Club interested in yachting and racing. Edward H. Raymond was named Commodore and the club gradually acquired a racing fleet. In 1926, Elmer Jared Bliss purchased the Osborn wharf at the foot Main Street. He paid for the construction of a new pier there and erected the current club house. The building was completed in 1927. In 1929 , the club acquired the property holdings of the Chappaquiddick Association, adding tennis courts to the facilities. The first Edgartown Regatta was held in 1924.)
