Restaurant burned in 1939 so Sanders rebuilt as a restaurant and motel. Business was good until the construction of I-75 which bypassed Corbin. Sanders auctioned the restaurant and motel and at age 66 began to sell franchises based on his fried chicken recipe. In 1960, moved the company to Shelbyville, Ky. Sold his franchising business to John Y. Brown, Jr. and Jack Massey.)
