found: Wikipedia, German, September 12, 2022(Friedrich Vittinghoff; born May 19, 1910 in Essen; died June 11, 1999 in Nuremberg; German ancient historian; after the end of the Second World War, Vittinghoff, who had been a soldier in the Wehrmacht for five years , was taken prisoner of war; in 1950 he received a teaching position at the University of Marburg and in 1955 he was appointed to a professorship in Ancient History at the University of Kiel; in 1962 he received a professorship at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg; there he was also a press officer and editor of the magazine Das Neue Erlangen; in 1966 he moved to the University of Cologne, where he was Director of the Department of Ancient History at the Institute of Archeology until his retirement in 1978; Vittinghoff researched mainly about the Roman Empire and was particularly concerned with the fundamental problems of Roman cities; he created a documentation of all Roman and Latin city foundations in the Roman Empire)
